An award-winning filmmaker, Allen began making films at an early age while growing up in Dayton, Ohio. At age 9, he wrote his first screenplay and soon after began creating short films with his uncle's Super 8 camera. By age 17, he completed his first feature length movie, 'Gregory Finch'. At age 19, Allen created and produced a television show, 'Teen Talk', which aired on PBS. In 1990, he started making a series of short films which he sold around the US under the banner of Morning Star Pictures.He studied at one of the nation's top film schools, New York University. While making short films, Allen created, produced and directed an off-Broadway show, 'Talent Showcase'. He graduated summa cum laude.Allen directed and produced 'Harlem Grace' as his senior thesis for NYU. 'Harlem Grace' has won 8 national awards and was a finalist for the Academy Awards for students as well as the Producer's Guild of America Award. 'Harlem Grace' is currently being distributed on video worldwide.Allen's debut feature film is 'In My Sleep' which he wrote, directed and produced. The script was a finalist in three screenwriting competitions. He helped raise financing for the movie by creating a series of award-winning board games. Allen continues to develop projects for his production company, Morning Star Pictures.
Parents are both black belts in Tae Kwon Doe.His grandfather, Donald McFall, was the Chaplain for the House of Representatives in Pennsylvania.Created board game company to fund his movies, invented five award-winning board games and won "Toy of the Year."In 1998, was hit by two cars while rollerblading through an intersection.In 1999, learned how to walk again. Later had a "Walking Party" to celebrate his mobility.As a teenager, created and produced a television show aimed at teens for PBS.
